What this site is
Intensity News is a community-run feed for news, polls, predictions, and bounties. People share things they think other people should know about, ask questions, make predictions about what comes next, and put rewards on questions worth answering. Every action you take spends or earns Creds.
Creds are not money. They are the unit of credibility on this site. Posting good work earns Creds. Acting on a hunch and being right earns Creds. Upvoting somebody else costs you Creds and pays them. There is no cash out, and no plan to add one until the system has been tested for long enough to be sure it is fair.
The four surfaces
News
A single feed of links and text posts. Submit a link, or write a short post yourself. Other people upvote the ones they want others to see, and reply in nested comments. Ranking is by recency and Creds spent on upvotes. There is no downvoting.
Polls
Two to ten options, one vote per person per poll. Useful for taking the temperature of the room without writing a full prediction.
Predictions
You write a prediction, set a deadline, and put down a small Creds deposit. Other players stake on Agree or Disagree. When the deadline passes, you decide who was right and the losing pool is paid out to the winners.
Bounties
Put Creds on a question and someone goes and finds the answer. Reviewer agrees, claimant gets paid. Nobody fakes their way through it because the reviewer is also putting their reputation on the line.
No accounts of you, just a name
This site does not collect email addresses. You sign up with just a username and a password. There is no password recovery by email because there is no email. If you lose your password, you lose the account.
That trade-off is intentional. Less data about you means less to leak, less to subpoena, and less reason for anyone to come asking.
House rules
- One person per account. One account per person.
- No paid promotion, no astroturfing, no vote rings.
- Disagree in the open. Don't kill posts you simply dislike.
- If you don't have evidence, don't claim you do.
- If a moderator removes something, ask them why before re-posting.
